Chairman Words

The Mozn Charitable Developmental and Social Foundation is considered one of the effective national institutions in providing humanitarian (relief and development) services. Since its establishment, the foundation has been working to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni society, which is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in contemporary history due to the ongoing war. This war has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, including children and women, and the destruction of tens of thousands of homes, farms, factories, roads, and means of livelihood. Residents in conflict areas now and themselves either killed, disabled, displaced, or homeless. Over the course of 8 years of war, siege, and salary interruptions, data indicates that 21.6 million people in Yemen are still in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. Despite immense challenges, the Yemeni people across the country continue to show extraordinary resilience and the ability to rebuild their lives and reclaim their future.

This is where the foundation plays its role in implementing its projects and activities to address the challenges facing the Yemeni people within humanitarian response programs and needs priorities, as indicated by reports from clusters, government entities, United Nations organizations, local and international organizations, and relevant authorities.

Since its inception at the end of 2015 until the current year of 2023, the foundation has implemented nearly 40 projects and activities, , benefting over 500,000 individuals from displaced, host, and vulnerable populations, especially those in extreme poverty, in various sectors such as food security, agriculture, livelihood improvement, protection and economic empowerment, education, public health and nutrition, shelter and camp management, and water and sanitation. These initiatives were carried out in collaboration with approximately 14 donors and funders. The foundation’s work has evolved from the community level to the private sector, then to local organizations, and finally to international organizations. It has become a trusted partner with five United Nations agencies, most notably the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) under the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Mozn Al-Khair operates in more than 7 governorates, including the capital Sanaa, Amran, Al-Jawf, Dhamar, Al-Hudaydah, Hajjah, and Al-Mahwit. Its strength comes from Allah first and then through its strong relationships with active partners and supporters from United Nations organizations, local and international organizations, local authorities, and its highly qualified team and staff. The foundation’s significant capacity lies in its ability to reach remote areas and its extensive network of volunteers, through whom it facilitates the implementation of various programs and activities.

Currently, the foundation focuses on economic empowerment projects, livelihood improvement, economic recovery, and transforming consumer households into productive households. Therefore, the foundation has adopted the slogan: “Empowering Individuals… Growing Communities.”
